Many of us spend our days sitting in front of screens, whether it be the television, computer, laptop, phones etc. Not only does this influence our mental health – possibly our eye health too – it also can affect our skin. Yes, really.

I’m fortunate that I’m surrounded by the Cheshire countryside, and many of my clients are too, however, you don’t need to have rolling hills on your doorstep to take advantage of fresh air and the wonders if can do for your skin. If you’re in a city, many now have wonderful parks where you can go and breathe your much-needed dose of sweet, fresh air; and here’s why you should do it as often as you can.

1 – Detoxifies the Skin

When you spend time outside, the fresh air opens the pores and makes your skin breathe better as there are fewer blockages. When the pores of your skin open, it eliminates the toxins from your skin and help your skin to remove waste from the body. In turn, this can prevent acne breakouts, skin imperfections and irritations.


2 – All that O2

As we know, oxygen does wonders for our body, and it can do the same for your skin too. When our skin hits the fresh air, the oxygen acts as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial property. It can also stimulate collagen production thereby making your skin to be glowy, dewy and feeling soothed.


3 – Cold Air

When the cold winter days hit, the natural response is to cover your face, right? You might think it would turn your skin dry and flaky. But what if I told you that covering your face could do more harm than good? Keeping your face wrapped up means that you’re not allowing the skin to breathe properly. Cold air contains many amazing properties to enhance your skins health; it can make your pores less visible and more refined. Cold air can also delay the secretion of sebum which in turn would lower the chance of acne breakouts. It can also fade away the circles around your eyes as well.


4 – Healthy Skin Cell Turnover

A spot of fresh air will create healthy skin cell turnover, replacing the old cells with new ones, leaving you with a clean, smooth, and even skin tone.


5 – Breathing Fresh Air, Indoors

Sounds crazy, right? If you’re unable to get outside in the fresh air every day, I would consider buying an air purifier. Air purifiers filter any smog, smoke, dust, and bacteria making us enjoy the cleaner indoor air.
